Where the Action Is: A Tale of Renaissance Rivalries
Saturday, May 4, 2013

Cantores Cleveland introduced Paolo, a Venetian talent scout, circa 1575, who was on the look-out for the next Renaissance music “superstar.”
Friends joined us for an intimate evening evocative of a noble Venetian family gathering, where stories, gossip and mysteries abounded in this musical tale about "Where the Action Is." The intimate setting at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes simulated a Renaissance salon, a room in a well-to-do merchant’s home, where smaller music ensembles performed for family and friends. For this evening’s performance guests became Paolo’s family and shared in his musical decisions and judgments. We saw the faces of our singers, heard their breath, and felt the movement and anticipation within the music. No longer were we passive listeners; we found ourselves actually a part of the program. We were welcomed to the family!
